Home vs Travel Guide PT. 1

I’ll be honest – I used to think that healthy eating just wasn’t possible while traveling. 

It’s easy to stick with meal planning and positive food choices while at home. But on the road? It felt like a vortex of diet-destroying food options around every turn out there. 

As a travel-lover, though, I wasn’t willing to trade in my healthy habits. So when I started macro-tracking, I was delighted to find that eating right on the road is just as easy as it is at home. 

Because this method gives you so much freedom to work within your daily macros, you’ll start seeing restaurant and even fast food in a new light! 

Breakfast:

Copycat your at-home breakfast with a delish breakfast sandwich that’s nearly identical to your home-cooked version in macros. It’s easy to find these at most fast food restaurants (and coffee on every corner, obviously!) 

Snack: 

If there’s a mini-mart nearby, pick up a piece of fruit and nuts or cheese for a simple snack. Otherwise, drop by a smoothie joint for a blend of fruit and protein powder to hit your macros. (And um, chocolate shake for a snack? YUM.) 

Lunch: 

I love Subway for a quick and nutritious lunch. The roast beef sub is one of my favorites, but there are a ton of ways to mix and match ingredients to hit your macros without getting bored, even if you eat this meal a few days in a row.

It’s a great way to load up on veggies – and you can always switch it up for a salad one day if you get more carbs in another meal. 

Dinner: 

Dinner is where a lot of people get nervous when it comes to healthy eating on the road. (Cheese-slathered nachos and sugar-laden margaritas come to mind, anyone?) 

But look, a plate of carnitas tacos with salsa and queso fits right into your macro plan. 

And because Mexican food is always better with a little tequila, here’s my secret: Swap the fishbowl marg for a tequila soda lime for a healthier, low-sugar buzz.
