Do I really need a macro coach?

Here at The Habyt, the structure of our program allows for your coach to play a major role in guiding you to your best self.

But you might find yourself thinking, “Do I really need a coach? Is this something I can manage on my own?”

The answers are YES and YES. Yes having a coach is extremely helpful. And yes, you can manage this on your own...eventually.

Learning macros is like learning a new language. It is NOT intuitive. It takes education, repetition and a little steering from your coach can help get you there faster! Guidance is key, especially during the beginning when things are hard, and you have approx. 1000 questions a day!

Here are 3 super important benefits to having coach:

  1. Expert Knowledge: Without the help of an expert, it can be really challenging to set starting macronutrient goals for yourself. Calculating your weekly grams for fat, carbs, and protein is a complex equation with many factors that can’t simply be “plugged in.” We must take into consideration your lifestyle habits, training routine, goal, body type, past dieting experience, etc. Setting appropriate goals is key!

  2. Accountability: Committing to another person, like a coach, can be great motivation. Reporting into someone is a proven way to hold yourself accountable. However, the key here is that you need to hold yourself accountable. Yes, your coach is an amazing resource, but they aren’t going to hunt you down if you miss a check-in. They aren’t going to show up at your apartment, drag you to the car and make you go to Trader Joes on Sunday night. You need to find the motivation within yourself. With every weeks’ check-in, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect and self correct before your coach chimes in!

  3. Support:  Consider your coach a macro sherpa. Because girl, this is a JOURNEY. Google is great, but there’s nothing quite like asking an actual human for advice. A human who is invested in you. For example, a coach will not just identify that you’re low on protein but explain why this matters, and work on a plan with you to get there. Hitting numbers without any understanding of the significance of these macronutrients will get you results, but it’s unlikely to stick. A coach can give you personalized tips and suggestions because they’ll know you and your habits.

One of the ultimate goals of The Habyt is for you to be your own coach. The coaches aren’t going to tell your what to eat or when to eat it because they want you to eventually learn how to make smart food choices without their help. The journey starts with you wanting to make a chance and ends with you wanting to sustain that change.

Your coach is there to teach and guide you in between these two points, but remember, the motivation starts with you!
