8 Awesome At-Home Workouts You Can Stream During Quarantine

We hope our amazing Habyt members and readers are practicing social distancing. By minimizing your contact with others, you are doing your part to flatten the curve and take care of our nation’s amazing health care workers. But it’s also important to take care of yourself during quarantine or isolation. Gyms and workout studios may be closed, but staying active will help you relieve stress and excess energy. You might be missing your favorite class, but you can still get an awesome workout, minus the shared equipment or crowded studio. Thanks to apps, Instagram Live, and smart TVs, you can get your daily workout fix as long as you have room for a yoga mat. Here’s our roundup of our favorite workouts you can stream from home:

  1. Support local studios! Many small studios are offering classes you can stream online. These online workouts are often donation based, with funds going to keep the studio in business. You can also show your support for local studios by purchasing gift cards for future classes, following them on social media, or leaving a positive review on Yelp or ClassPass.

  2. Peloton ($12.99/month): No, you don’t need the bike. The Peloton app offers tons of live and on-demand classes, including running, strength, toning, yoga, meditation, and (obviously) cycling. The app has great goal-setting and tracking features, too. As of 3/30/2020, Peloton is offering an extended trial period of 90 days.

  3. Obé ($27/month): Obé fitness classes are designed to allow you to turn any space into a gym. The subscription gives you access daily live and 4,000+ on-demand classes, from HIIT to barre. Classes are divided into 3 categories: Sweat (Cardio based classes), Define (Strength based classes), and Flow (yoga and stretching classes).

  4. Melissa Wood Health ($9.99/month): Melissa’s program offers on-demand mat-based workouts that are designed to sculpt your body using precise, low impact movements. There are over 50+ workouts which you can stream online, plus a new workout is posted every week. This is a great option if you are cardio-adverse.

  5. Playbook ($14.99+): Want a more personalized experience from a specific trainer? The Playbook app gives you access to real-time workouts from a variety of trainers, influencers, and athletes. Each trainer has their own channel but you only get access to their latest 10 workouts, which means you have to keep up!

  6. Tone It Up ($14.99/month): You’re probably already familiar with the Tone It Up ladies. Their comprehensive workout program gives you access to on-demand fitness training, including live classes and workout videos that range from 10-40 minutes. A yearly subscription is a great value that averages out to $8.33 a month.

  7. OrangeTheory (free): The words OrangeTheory and free are rarely used in the same sentence, so you’ll want to take advantage of the daily 30-minute workout videos OT is posted while their studios are closed. Dumbbells (or dumbbell substitutes) may be required for some of these workouts.

  8. Find a workout that gives back! Want to do some good while feeling good? There are tons of studios that are currently offering online workouts and asking viewers to pay it forward with a donation to charity. Follow Y7 yoga on IG where they are sharing live flows for optional donations to City Meals. Torch’d by Issac Boots is also posting free daily workouts on Instagram Live while supporting No Kid Hungry
