The ultimate cleanse

There are things in our lives that stop us from feeling good. Roadblocks which can alter our mood, decisions and confidence.

And we're not just talking about your pantry, we're talking about your mind and your home..

Today we’re going to ask you to initiate the ultimate cleanse. To make room for the all the good that is about to come your way.

Your kitchen

While flex dieting means no food is off limits, if you know something is a trigger food for you, take it out of your diet at first, and re enter it at a later time. Go in your pantry, and get rid of anything that doesn’t suit your perfect day.

Here are the steps to cleaning your kitchen

  1. Take everything out of your pantry/fridge/freezer at once and put it on your countertop.

  2. Get rid of...

    • Foods that make you feel guilty after you eat them

    • Foods you cannot have a responsible portion of

    • Foods that you crave when you are feeling emotional

    • Anything that has expired. I know you have a bag of chips in there that has been stale for 3 months.. Toss it.

  3. Wipe down your pantry & fridge. There is nothing like a clean start for a clean life!

    • For packaged foods that you are keeping, take note of their nutrients. How many carbs, fats, protein, sugars? Does anything surprise you?

  4. Put back all of the nutritious food you have leftover, in an organized way.

    • Now that you know what’s in your home, you can utilize that food and identify what’s missing when making your grocery list!

*If you find yourself feeling bad about throwing away food, consider shifting your mindset. Coach Zan encourages you to think about it like this: "You're either throwing food away in your body or in the trash". We'll leave it up to you, but you're likely best off not using your beautiful body as a trash can. You also have the option to donate it to a local food bank.

Your home

We’re going to take a very similar approach for the rest of your home.

An organized home keeps an organized mind. We truly believe this.

We like to think of it as a spring cleaning for your health! It’s time to dust off the negativity and move on.

Below are some recommendations to help get you started!

  1. Your Kitchen (above)

  2. The Bedroom/ Closet

    • Sleep is your recovery. Recovery is imperative for mood, weight loss, lean muscle gain, brain function, etc.

    • Make sure your bedroom is dark, quiet, & clean. Invest in some blackout shades or a white noise machine

    • Set some boundaries for your bedroom. Such as a no screen zone after 8pm.

    • Organize your closet and get rid of anything you do not use. Donate it!

  3. The Bathroom

    • If all of of your drawers and shelves are filled with random products that you haven’t seen in years. TOSS, wipe down & reorganize. You start your day in the bathroom, so make sure it is clean, organized and functional.

*Understand de cluttering your entire home is not going to happen in an afternoon. Dedicate a day this weekend or next to organizing your home, go room by room in order of importance to you. Setting yourself up for fresh start!

Next up, we tackle that all or nothing mentality that surrounds diet culture.
