Meet Coach Zan!!

Growing up, I was an all around athlete. Through excelling in multiple sports, I was always told how to exercise + what to eat, but never taught why. In my adult years, as I stopped playing sports, I found my health slipping away from me as I had no idea where to start on my own.

I embarked on my new journey attending The University of Southern California for my undergrad education, surrounded by an environment that promotes unhealthy behaviors. "Freshman 15" soon tripled where I felt like I was living in a body that was not my own. I spent most of my late teens and early 20s hating my body and feeling guilty about everything that I ate. I was at war with myself. A war that I started, and that only I could end. My body never responded the way I wanted it to. I’d work out, nothing happened. I’d go on an extreme diet for as long as I could stand, then end up back to where I started or worse.

The stress of being at war with myself deeply impacted my mind and body. In retrospect, how could I have expected my body to give me what I wanted, when I refused to give it what it needed?

Upon graduation, I decided it was time to regain my health and confidence back, intentionally. As I dove into my studies of what healthy living meant to me, I discovered the beauty + flexibility of living a macro-based lifestyle. In addition to working on myself, I pursued my masters degree in psychology at The University of San Diego, specializing in helping those with eating disorders.

What I learned when I was obtaining my masters in psychology, is that our minds and bodies feed off of each other. Negative thoughts and self doubt put our bodies under constant tension. You are a product of both your thoughts and environment. You are also the only one who is in complete control of these factors. I quickly learned that the mental journey is oftentimes more important than the physical.

However, I noticed our health culture needed to bridge the gap between the physical and the mental. This is when the idea of The Habyt blossomed into so much more than I could ever have dreamed of. Combining my knowledge of macro tracking and education around disordered eating, a program was built specifically to rewire our relationships with ourselves and with our food.

As a coach at The Habyt, I take a no bulls*t approach with a high energy and the tough love some need. I believe I possess a motivating, yet empathetic coaching style. I am a single woman with no children and love living a balanced lifestyle with a fun, social life. If you need help navigating social events, then I’m your gal!

Today, you can find me living in sunny San Diego coaching at Renegade Fitcamp (group fitness company based in San Diego), grinding through a CrossFit workout, playing with my cute pup, or crushing donuts (because hey, nothing is off limits!)
